En dehors des difficultés pour s’y retrouver dans le maquis des règlementations qui régissent les activités politiques des organisations à but non lucratif, dont les églises, il y a la question souvent posée de savoir si les sujets politiques ont leur place du haut de la chaire.Les règlementations du Service américain des impôts interdisent aux organismes religieux de soutenir ou de s’opposer à tout candidat, parti politique ou comité d’action politique.
