Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast — June 26, 2018

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest  We squeeze out another mostly dry day across Ohio today, with sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Moisture is moving east, though ,coming out of Illinois this morning and it will take all day to spread across Indiana. This will put scattered rain showers into western and NW Ohio overnight tonight. The moisture then spreads across the rest of the state through tomorrow and into the early part of Thursday.  Rain and thunderstorm action should trigger .25”-1.5” of rain over 100% of the state. There are very good chances of strong thunderstorms and a threat of severe weather. We will need those to see precipitation totals get up toward the higher end of the range. We dry down Thursday midday and will stay dry for the following 4 days in a row. That means we have sunny and dry weather in the forecast for Friday through Sunday. Temps will build to slightly above normal levels but will not be overly hot.Scattered showers and thunderstorms develop overnight Sunday night into Monday, starting in NW Ohio and then spreading east and sagging south. This will bring rains to the entire state for the period from Sunday overnight through Tuesday midday. Rain totals will be from a quarter to three quarters of an inch with coverage at 80% of the state. Clouds break later Tuesday, but only for a short time. For the Independence Day holiday on the 4th, we are going to have to increase our rain chances this morning. It looks like the minor front we had been looking for on the 5th has decided to speed up slightly and arrive for the 4th. Moisture totals are not impressive, perhaps a few hundredths to a tenth or two, but we can’t say we stay completely dry either. So, just be away of the minor action. We are then dry for the 5th through the 8th.Changes in the extended 11-16 day window means we are looking at our front there to shift back to the 9th, allowing for .1”-.5” to develop over the eastern corn belt, and coverage will be around 70%. A strong high still will try to develop by the end of the 16-day window, and that would promote a dry stretch into mid-month.Temperatures today will stay below normal, but tomorrow through the rest of the 10-day period, we will be a bit above normal. There is not significant heat, as we mentioned above, but we think that highs will average about 2-4 degrees above normal for this time of year as we flip the calendar into July and go through the holiday weekend. Our general sentiment is unchanged this morning. We still think this pattern still brings timely moisture, but just not as much of it the farther out we go. At right is an updated map of cumulative 10-day rains for the region.last_img read more

Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast September 24, 2019

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest Much nicer air in over the state again today, as our frontal complex exited yesterday. We now are settling into a drier pattern. There is plenty of moisture trying to move across the western, central and northern corn belt, but over the next 2 weeks, it seems to fall apart well before it gets here. An upper level high sitting over the SE should continue to steer this action by to our northwest. Here is our updated outlook this morning.Mostly sunny and pleasant today, Temps near normal, and low humidity. Tomorrow we see an increase in clouds, but no significant precipitation potential. That being said, with the increase in moisture in the atmospheric profile, we cant rule out a few sprinkles from US 30 northward…but those are not a big part of our outlook. We are back to partly-mostly sunny skies on Thursday and stay that way through the balance of the week.Over the weekend, we are largely dry over Ohio, but on Saturday we cant rule out scattered showers in the far NW and SE areas. We are talking a few hundredths to .3″ with only 20% coverage, and the rest of the state just sees a mix of clouds and sun. Partly sunny skies expected in all areas Sunday.Next week we are fully dry Monday through Friday. Temps will be cooler next week, after slowly building some later this week and over the weekend.10 day rain potentiallast_img read more

BJP State executive to meet in Pimpri

first_imgPune: The Bharatiya Janata Party will hold a two-day meet of the State executive at Pimpri on Wednesday. This will be the party’s second executive in Pimpri after more than three decades, the first being in the early 1980s.“The venue has been chosen as a symbolic marker of our triumph over the NCP, which had dominated the PCMC [Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation] for so long,” a BJP leader said. The saffron party won unprecedented landslides in polls to both Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad civic bodies, bagging 98 out of 162 seats in the Pune Municipal Corporation and 77 out of 128 seats in the PCMC.The BJP’s top brass from Maharashtra, including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the party’s State unit chief Raosaheb Danve are expected to be in attendance, along with Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Suresh Prabhu. The sessions will focus on policy-making in Maharashtra and the party’s plans after securing overwhelming victories in most of the civic bodies and local bodies across the State. There are speculations that Congress strongman Narayan Rane might formally enter the BJP’s fold during the meet. However, local party leaders refused to comment on the matter.BJP’s Pimpri-Chinchwad president Laxman Jagtap said the meet will be held at the Ramkrishna More auditorium, and will be attended by more than 500 party leaders. The party virtually had no presence in PCMC, be it the civic or Assembly level, until the 2014 Parliamentary polls. However, its fortunes changed when Mr. Jagtap, who was formerly the NCP’s vital point man in the area, joined the BJP in 2014. This paved the way for the entry of more NCP heavyweights, like Bhosari legislator Mahesh Landge and former PCMC mayor Azam Pansare, into the saffron party.Stormy protests are expected by the Opposition NCP and the Shiv Sena, the BJP’s disgruntled ally, during the meet. The Sena’s Maruti Bhapkar (a former Aam Aadmi Party leader) said a combined Opposition would stage a hunger strike to protest against the failure of the promises made the BJP-led Central and State governments on various issues.last_img read more
